A Look at the Different Types of Futurists

A graduate of the MBA program at Rutgers University, Yasemin Dalgali currently serves as the director at Augmenix Inc. in Bedford, Massachusetts. Outside of her professional work, Yasemin Dalgali is active with nonprofit organizations that include the Medical Device Manufacturer's Association (MDMA) and the World Future Society.

Founded in 1966, the World Future Society is a futurist community that works to shape the collective purpose and future of humanity. The organization utilizes global summits, publications, and expert advice to drive its efforts and guide the future.

Society members are known as futurists, people who recognize the complexity of the future as well as their ability to change it. There are several kinds of futurists, such as the citizen futurist who implements a futuristic mindset into their daily life. Individuals with this mindset live with a passion to understand humanity's place in the universe, and also challenge existing assumptions and take steps to thrive in a future world. Alternatively, a professional futurist takes a more active approach to influencing the future through creating scientific studies and collaborating with others, whereas a subject matter futurist applies the futuristic mindset in a specific profession.
